IMPORTANT: In order to successfully install and
run SDK v 1.4.2 for OpenVMS I64, mandatory prerequisite patches
(ECOs) must be installed. These ECOs are listed below.
Do NOT attempt to run the SDK v 1.4.2 kit without first installing
these ECOs.
Technical support requests relating to OpenVMS I64 and these patches
should be sent through your normal service and support channels.

The ECOs cited below for OpenVMS I64 V8.2-1 are required
to run the SDK. Note there are two types of mandatory ECOs:
- Mandatory Rating 1 ECOs for OpenVMS I64. These
ECOs must be installed and up-to-date. Note that
some ECOs in this category were released specifically to address
Java problems.
- Additional Mandatory ECOs for Java Applications.
These ECOs are required when using the SDK.
To download these ECOs, you must first perform a search to make
your patch selection using the IT Resource Center (ITRC) database.
Follow these steps to access the 'Search' page.
- Login to the IT Resource Center (ITRC) at http://www2.itrc.hp.com/.
Note: First time users must register.
- Select 'individual patches for OpenVMS and Tru64 UNIX'
under 'maintenance and support (Compaq products)'.
- Select 'OpenVMS' under 'find individual patches'.
To search for ECOs, follow these steps for A and B:
A) For the mandatory Rating 1 ECOs
required for the operating system:
- In Step 1, choose operating system
- In Step 2, type 'INSTALL_1' as the keyword
- In Step 3, change the search criteria to
'exact phrase'.
- In Step 4, click on the search button to
start the search
- Click on the patch name in the results to view the 'Patch
Details' page that contains the release notes, or proceed...
- Check the box(es) to the left of the patch name in the results
and click 'add to selected patch list' button
- On the 'selected patch list' page, click 'download selected'
button
- On the 'download patches' page, you can download patches
in one operation or individually and also via anonymous ftp(1)
or http. Make your selection to complete the download.
B) For the additional ECOs required for Java applications:
- In Step 1, choose operating system
- In Step 2, choose 'Search by Patch ID', and
copy and paste in the 'patch name' (see list in the table
below) in the box to the right.
- In Step 3, use the default 'all words' as
the keyword
- In Step 4, click on the search button to
start the search
- Click on the patch name in the results to view the 'Patch
Details' page that contains the release notes, or proceed...
- Check the box(es) to the left of the patch name in the results
and click 'add to selected patch list' button
- On the 'selected patch list' page, click 'download selected'
button
- On the 'download patches' page, you can download patches
in one operation or individually and also via anonymous ftp(1)
or http. Make your selection to complete the download.

Note for Additional Mandatory ECOs:
Because the status of ECOs changes frequently as new versions
supersede previous versions, we recommend that you search the
ECOs cited above, and install the 'most recent' version resulting
in your search. To verify that you have the correct file, refer
to the 'Patch Details'.
Installation Instructions
IMPORTANT: Before installing the required patches, you should
read the patch documentation for any restrictions that might affect
you. In most cases you can examine these files via a web browser,
or download the patch kit and extract the documentation files.
